Lyons Announces Internet Site to Help Find Scholarships
January 5, 2000
LaGrange . . . State Representative Eileen Lyons (R-Western Springs), would like to inform high school seniors, college students and their parents of a new Internet service designed to make their scholarship search easier. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission’s (ISAC) website now has a free service that will compile student information and within 24 hours let them know what scholarships are available to them.
"I know that there are many people that depend on scholarships as a way to afford college," said Lyons. "This website will help make the search to find scholarships much easier."
The financial aid location service is called Higher-EdNet and can be reached by logging onto the ISAC web page at www.isac1.org. The system uses a comprehensive database to provide information on federal, state, institutional and private sources of financial aid.
It is a very easy system to use and there is no cost. By providing information such as, academic interest, post-secondary education plans, extra-curricular activities and hobbies, students will receive a customized report listing specific financial aid programs for which they can apply. The results are emailed within 24 hours and the service is updated continuously with new awards.
For more information on the program, call ISAC at 1-800-899-ISAC (4722), or log onto their web page at www.isac1.org.
